The big news yesterday was that Jeff Bezos is now stepping aside as CEO of the giant e-commerce company Amazon. What started from his garage over 30 years ago has become one of the biggest successes in corporate America.
He will move to become Executive Chairman, with Andy Jassy taking over the top role at Amazon. The change is expected later this year and as outlined in his letter to staff he is still going to be part of Amazon but will be able to divert more energy to his other businesses.
"As Exec Chair I will stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives but also have the time and energy I need to focus on the Day 1 Fund, the Bezos Earth Fund, Blue Origin, The Washington Post, and my other passions."
"I've never had more energy, and this isn't about retiring. I'm super passionate about the impact I think these organisations can have," he added.
